Make Up Haul 2012: Product Review

Hello Everybody :)

So I recently did a haul video of most of the recent products I've purchased so far in the New Year, and I decided it would be a good idea to do a blog on the products, with a more in depth review, as now I have used the products more!  I won't post swatches, as I did that in the video.  Check out the video HERE :) <3

Soooo, here we go!

Nail Polish:

Rainbow Connection by OPI

I bought this nail polish at the drugstore when it was on sale, %10 off! I thought it was soooo pretty.  It has large silver, pink, orange, blue and green glitters, and smaller glitters of the same colours.  I really love this nail polish.  It's a glitter that does not need to be coated 3 times to get the glitter to show up, it's very opaque!

With that said, the ONLY complaint I have, which isn't just this nail polish, but glitter polish all together, is that it's so darn hard to remove! I had a hard time trying to take off this polish with my nail polish remover, probably because there is just soooo much glitter! But all in all, I LOVE this nail polish. It's absolutely gorgeous over any colour, or just on it's own. Definitely worth it!

Silver Shatter by OPI

Not much to say about this polish, really! It's been so talked about, and there's so many reviews on it.  It's a really pretty polish.  It's not too thick, which it what I like about it. It's not goopy at all! It applies very nicely.  LOVEEE IT <3

TIP: Don't apply this polish over a very light polish, like a pastel colour, or white, as it won't show up well.  GO FOR IT if you want a subtle silver look, but personally, I prefer to top it over a dark nail polish, either a black, or a dark purple or something like that, it stands out much better :)

Pink Shatter by OPI

This nail polish came out recently, for the breast cancer campaign.  It's one of the newest shatter nail polishes, apart form the new one from the Nicki Minaj collection!

Personally, it's not my favourite of the shatter nail polishes.  I bought it because it was new, and OPI doesn't have many colours in the shatter collection.  It is actually very sheer, and doesn't apply well over many colours.  The best colour to apply it over is white nail polish, and it looks alright, but it definitely is not my favourite polish, and I don't reach for it as often as the silver shatter.  I wouldn't re-purchase this polish.

Gold Crackle by Sally Hansen

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this nail polish! It's just SOOO pretty! It's a much lighter/softer gold, which is nice. It applies extremely well, and isn't goopy or too thin.  It's not sheer at all.  It applies better than the OPI shatter nail polishes, and is cheaper as well.  The brush isn't as wide as the OPI brushes, which is nice, for me at least.  Also, I feel as if this polish cracks better than the OPI ones.  No disrespect to OPI! I still LOVE THEM! :)  But this one is just as nice, if not nicer!

Flirt by Revlon

This colour is GORGEOUS! Of all the new Revlon polish shades, this one was my absolute favourite! I'm not much into pinks, but I adore this colour.  It's a cool toned pink, meaning it's  more on the purple tone of the pinks, and has slight blue undertones.  It's a very pretty colour.  The formula is GREAT.  It applies sooo nicely. It's very opaque, and doesn't smell as disgusting as most nail polishes do.  This was the cheapest of all the nail polishes I recently bought, at $5.99, and definitely my FAVORITE! <3

Eye Products:

Maybelline EyeStudio Eyeshadow in Pink Punch

This is the first little eyeshadow palette I've purchased from the Maybelline EyeStudio Collection, and I LOVE it.  It really is a nice little palette.  I love 4/5 of the colours.  I really dislike the colour on the top of the palette.  The glitter literally falls off and goes all over the place, it's not usable at all.  I really don't understand the concept behind that colour, but the rest of the colours are great!  My favourites are the pink lid colour on the left, and the highlight colour on the bottom.  Both are fabulous! Very pigmented, saturated shadows.  I really enjoy the purple shade as well, but find it difficult to get my brush in it, as it is very slim in the packaging.  Can't say I love the packaging because of this, but overall, I love the quality of the eyeshadows, and I will definitely be purchasing more! :)

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in 'Pots and Pans'

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in 'Oyster'

To start off, I absolutely LOVE the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils and eye shadow bases.  They are very pigmented, come in a variety of colours, and last all day.  I really like 'Pots and Pans'.  Very saturated colour, great for smokey eye looks, or for a nice shimmer under your eyes.  Really disappointed with 'Oyster'.  Not pigmented at all.  Barely shows up on my eye lid.  It takes many many layers for it to even show up decently.  I regret buying it for sure.  Love the eye pencil in 'Milk', though. It's my favourite.

Face Products:

NYX Blush in 'Spice'

This is the first NYX blush I've ever owned, and I'm LOVING it. I've been using it almost every day since I bought it.  It's a very creamy (though it's powder), and blend able blush.  The colour is VERY pigmented.  You can achieve a dark blush colour by layering it, or use it sparingly to get that pinch of colour.  It applies very nicely with a brush, and the packaging is nice as well.  It's a nice size, not too big, not too small.  Easy to store, and very sleek looking.  I will definitely be buying more of these blushes!

Hard Candy Baked Blush in 'Living Doll'

I like this blush.  It's pink, swirled with gold.  It's very pretty when all blended together.  It's not the most pigmented blush out there, but adds a nice glow to your face.  This is my go to blush now when I do a really dramatic eye or lip.  It's very glowy, and subtle.  I like it a lot :)

I hope you guys enjoyed this review!

I will definitely have more to come!
